Stained Acacia Butcher Block Safety Testing

We have conducted EN 71-3:2019 Migration of Elements test which is a European test that is used to test for heavy metals including in children’s toys as well as the US FDA-21 CFR 175.300 test which is for coatings that will be in contact with foods. In all tests conducted, our stained Acacia passed being below the standard limits. For all of our countertops, they are required to have a final sealer applied prior to use to protect them from moisture gain and loss so the sealer that you chose you should also evaluate if it meets your needs if food will come in contact with it.

  • Appearance & Color: The heartwood is a medium to dark brown, to nearly black, with lighter brown contrasting stripes, sometimes with a red or yellow hue
  • Grain & Texture: a wavy, interlocked grain with a coarse texture
  • Machinability: Easy to work with both machine and hand tools, has a high cutting resistance and may dull blades more noticeably
  • Finishing: When sanded and stained, it produces an excellent smooth finish. This live edge countertop comes finished. If the top is cut the exposed area will need to have a sealer reapplied.
